Wings - what does this represent ?

Several headstones in the Cornish Cemetery, Mexico have this 'wings & globe' symbol. This one is on the headstone for Richard Rule, born in Camborne, died in Pachuca 1879. What does it mean ? is it an indication of a Fraternal Society ? CIP Ref. 257/450.
