Language - Cornish
|
The language used on a memorial can be a powerful statement. A memorial at Paul Churchyard records that Dolly Pentreath (1777) was the last native speaker of the Cornish language. A fact some revisionist scholars dispute. The CIP database records the language of the memorial and thjose in Corish are of particular interest. Several modern examples have been recorded, this picture shows a plaque at Mount Hawke which records a worthy Cornishman - Ashley Rowe (1985). It has one line in Cornish.
